Description

The root is a tuber, having enlarged underground structures for storage of nutrients.

Damp habitats in dappled shade.

Flowers

Bell-shaped, pale yellow flowers with protruding anthersupper fertile part of the stamen containing the pollen.

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Oval to long, pointed, hairy, rough; lower leaves stalked.

Fruits Seeds

Nut: 4 small nutlets at the base of the calyx.

Medical

Roots: boiling the roots results in a sticky paste. Compresses were soaked in the paste, then wrapped around fractures; when dried it became hard like a cast.
