11.03.2013: The AIDAstella is the seventh and for the time being the last vessel of a series of Club vessels which were built by the Papenburger shipyard for AIDA Cruises.
The AIDAstella is designed for the German cruise market and combines very comfortable and elegant interior with the most modern and environmentally friendly technology. Apart from the innovative design the vessel offers passengers a variety of specialities and comfort: More than 65% of the cabins are outside cabins, most of them featuring a balcony. On the AIDAstella the inner cabins become virtual sea view cabins. 42- inch LED- flat screens enable the passenger having live sea views across the ocean or a view of the next voyage destination. Another highlight on the cruise vessel AIDAstella is the on board brewery producing homemade beer. The 2600m² large Spa-area and the 34 Spa- cabins as well as the five Spa-Suites offer apart from classy Nordic design many extra features and many special services like e.g. a personal Wellness advisor.

Due to the diesel-electric propulsion, inter-active communication system as well as the comprehensive stage and entertainment technology on board, the security and the entertainment of all is guaranteed according to the latest and newest standards. The MEYER SHIPYARD and AIDA Cruises set new standards concerning the environmental protection and the energy efficiency. Due to the optimised and streamlined propeller and rudder the AIDAstella succeeded in reducing the bunker consumption even further. The AIDAstella - with the building no. S. 695 - received support funding from the State Ministry for economy and technology (BMWi) and also from the County of Lower Saxony due to the fact that innovative components were used. The rudder blades are asymmetrically twisted at the level of the propeller pit. This design produces a sailing impact, which provides the vessel additional propulsion.
After the hand-over to the shipping company the AIDAstella will depart this afternoon from Emden, a town in Lower Saxony, into the direction of Hamburg. The christening will take place on the 16th March in Rostock- Warnemünde. On the 17th March she will commence her maiden voyage from Warnemünde via Copenhagen, Oslo
and Stavanger u.a. until Hamburg.

"Theatrium“ (deck 9 – 11)
Yet still very unique is the space concept of the Theatrium. Here the theatre, bars and market place merge into a unique space experience on three decks and on more than 3.000 m².
The Theatrium is a quiet place in the morning, central meeting point during the day and a stage in the evening. The light flooded room presents its special atmosphere due to giant glass walls, a large glass cathedral, free hanging decks and a particular pillar structure. The
Theatrium offers a comprehensive stage facility. The lower part of the machinery consists of a round stage inclusive of an automatic fall protection system. The connection to the main stage is a three part lifting platform. Each part of the lifting platform can be operated separately. In addition a "Main-Stage-Lift“ is installed on the main stage. The upper part of the machinery consists of eight lifts, a movable LED wall as well as a lift for the artist. All the operational facilities are computer controlled and usable from different positions.

"Brewery“ (deck 10)
In the brewery beer is being brewed on the open sea according to the German purity law. About 500 litre per day can be brewed. For the brewing process only four raw materials are required: water, malt, hops and yeast. Hearty meals will be served to the freshly brewed and tapped beer which is being produced in the Sudhaus live. Like in all other service areas also here the requirements of the American health authority USHP is ensured.

Propulsion system and energy production
The energy production on the vessel is provided by four diesel generators with a output of each
9.000 kW. The diesel type Mak 9M43C can run of either diesel fuel as well as on bunker fuel. The environmentally friendly engines are particularly known for the reduced emission levels and the reduced consumption. The engines are suitable for low sulphur fuel and fulfil the newest emission requirements and environmental guidelines. A further improvement of the emission levels is being achieved by the innovative MaK FLEXCAN system. The exhaust heat is used for the operation of the air conditioning and the warm water production.

Water production and water disposal
On board the AIDAstella up to 1.5 Mio. litre drinking water can be produced every day.
The drinking water is being provided by two evaporators and a reverse osmosis facility. A reduced usage of water is achieved by e.g. the utilisation of the condense water of the air conditioning is collected and subsequently used in the laundry on board. The warm water circulation is heated by steam. In addition the drinking water can be supplied by bunker stations ashore.

Sewage water system and garbage recycling
The complete black water is being channelled by a vacuum pipe system into two vacuum facilities and if required can be collected in storage tanks. The produced black and grey water is being treated in a bio reactor and disposed in a usable water quality. The complete sewage (1.000m³/per day) of the vacuum toilets (black water), the grey water from the cabins, kitchen and the laundry as well as the residue water from the left over food and the bio mud recycling system is being collected in a water treatment facility and recycled according to the most modern technique (Membrane treatment). The clean water fulfils the strictest international requirements, the so called "Alaska-laws“, as well as the German ground water quality laws. The produced sewage sludge and the left over food are drained, dried and incinerated in the incineration plant on board, together with the normal garbage. Reusable materials like paper, tins and glass are shredded in recycling facilities, compressed and delivered as residues in the next port.

The wellness area with a sea view consists of more than 15 treatment cabins for Shiatsu, massages, Thalasso and La Stone.
Generous relaxation spaces, various theme saunas with their own external area as well as a private wellness oasis with relaxation bed and their own balcony supplement the beauty area.
