Caption:
This image depicts a volar view of a patient’s right arm revealing the presence of a cutaneous ulceration, after having been bitten by a Brazilian wolf spider, Lycosa raptoria. Venom injected by a L. raptoria bite contains proteolytic enzymes, which act to break down the proteinaceous components of the tissues affected directly at the bite site, thereby, creating an ulceration, as was the case here.
