The cathedral choir stalls are earliest nearly complete set in England dating from about 1308. The back wall has a blind arcade of pairs of trefoiled arches with encircled cinquefoils above and exuberant foliage in the spandrels. In front of the panels are thin shafts supporting cinquefoiled arches and encircled cinquefoils.
