AIDAstella debuts in Lisbon

On the 2nd of September, the AIDAstella cruise vessel, the most recent from the AIDA Cruises operator, debuts in Lisbon, the itinerary started on the 25th of August in Hamburg, with passages through Dover, Le Havre, Santander, La Coruna, Cadiz, Casablanca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas final destination. After being built in the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the AIDAestella was baptized on May 16, in Warnemüde, Germany, in the presence of 10 godmothers, 8 employees of AIDA Cruises representing several nations and services, one representing the Meyer Werft shipyards and another from the architecture office Partner Ship Design. With 253 meters, 14 decks and over 71 tons, AIDAstella has capacity for 2500 passengers and more than 600 crew members, offers 1097 staterooms, of which, 39 are exclusive to Spa, 7 restaurants with a total area of 4323 m2, 12 bars among other services. Also makes available a total of 2 602m2 designed to wellness and sports and one of the largest “floating areas” of Spa and Fitness. The AIDAstella operates under the concept of informal "club resort" from AIDA Cruises, targeted to the younger and active German market. To celebrate the arrival at the port of Lisbon of the 13th cruise ship in first call in 2013, the AIDAstella will be received by tugboats from Svitzer company and the ship's captain will receive the commemorative plaque from Port of Lisbon Authority during the traditional welcome ceremony held on board.
