Here is the Testicles before

Last Wednesday I bathed my dog(shih tzu). He was well until I noticed his balls being red like a strawberry. Weeks before I already noticed that his balls were shedding. I thought it was going to go away but now my dog’s balls are red. I monitored it after a day passed and it dried out and had a crusty brown thing on his balls. I haven’t noticed anything wrong in his pee. It doesn’t have blood or anything and he is eating properly. I have no money to bring him to the vet because I am just a student so if you can tell me what he has or what I can do it will be really helpful. thank you God bless

Suggestion for Dog With Red Testicles

Hi Isabel,

So sorry to hear about your dog's condition.

Your dog's red and shedding skin on the scrotal area could have several potential causes:

Chafing or Friction: The scrotum may experience irritation due to contact with the ground when your dog sits or lies down, leading to skin changes.

Allergies: The skin reaction might be due to environmental factors like pollen or grass, certain ingredients in their food, or even the shampoo or other products you used during the bath.

Dermatitis: This skin inflammation can result from allergies, irritants, or infections.

Parasites: Mites or fleas can cause irritation and skin shedding.

Infections: Fungal or bacterial infections can manifest as redness, flaking, or crusting.

Hormonal Imbalances: Conditions like hypothyroidism may lead to skin changes.

Environmental Factors: Dry climates or extreme weather conditions can cause dry, flaky skin.

Given the recent bathing, it's possible that the shampoo or another product caused irritation or an allergic reaction. For immediate relief, ensure your dog doesn't scratch the area, gently clean it, and consider applying a dog-safe hydrocortisone cream. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, it's crucial to seek veterinary care. Many veterinary clinics offer reduced fees or payment plans for individuals with financial constraints. Always consult a professional veterinarian when in doubt about your pet's health.
