Hi all
I noticed this small scab on my DS head this morning, he's 18 days old and he's my first so I have no idea what it could be. It doesn't seem to be bothering him in any way or sore. I'm wondering if he's scratched himself but it seems a bit big to be from a scratch. It's on near enough on the back of his head. Thanks in advance

As he's so new are you sure it's not a bit of leftover 'gunk' (sorry didn't know what word to use) from his birth? Is it attached to his actual scalp or stuck in his hair?

Also I didn't think new babies got cradle cap but could it be that?

It just doesn't look very scab coloured.

He's had 4 baths since birth so I don't think it's gunk. I couldn't think of another word for it except scab? It's attached to his scalp. It's starting to come away a little and the skin underneath looks completely normal

if its cradle cap it will be firmly attached to his head....oil softens it though.

It's probably cradle cap then. Put some oil on his head - you can use baby oil or olive oil - then leave it on for a while before washing it off. If you do that a few times if should loosen a bit but don't pull or pick it otherwise you could make it a bit sore.
