My 10 yr old girl has spots that look the same. Noticed a few a month ago after holiday that went now seem to have come back in same places and lots more. Increasing over days but not itchy. Doc has no clue, maybe follicular is he said. My almost 3 son had a few after hols too but don't seem to have come back, seems like we all need to get to the bottom of this. The only thing the children have commented on is that they have sore mouths and I think they both had an ulcer before daughters spots came out. What is it???

Hello Kathryn

I am so sorry to hear that your DD is also suffering from these mystery spots.

Hopefully some of the members who have posted on this thread will return to share their outcomes which might shed some light.

Do go back to your GP if you remain concerned though Kathryn.

Hi, I feel almost relieved that it's not just my kids. In October last year my son (7) started getting a few spots on his bottom . I took him to the docs who said it was chicken pox. more spots appeared on his bottom as well as his torso, upper arms and upper legs. none on his face, neck, hands or feet. they didn't seem itchy. after a week or so the spots, which were red with a head but no scab, kept on coming so we went back to the docs who this time said it was viral and gave him antibiotics. this cleared the rash completely and I thought that was that! But 2 or 3 weeks later the spots started appearing again, in the same areas as before just a few every day so back we went to see the GP. This time he was puzzled, he referred us to a dermatologist and gave him antibiotics again. by the time we had our appointment to see the dermatologist, the antibiotics had kicked in and no rash to be seen. I showed her pictures I had taken (see attachment) when the rash was at it worse and she seemed to think it was folliculitis and said to come back if the rash came back. of course a few weeks later the rash is back, same as it was before.  by then I have had all the carpets in the house professionally cleaned, mattresses treated in case it is caused by some bugs (although that wouldn't explain why antibiotics cleared the rash!). we see a different dermatologist who said it could be scabies! I'm doubtful but by now ready to try anything! doing a bit of research I start to think that maybe he could have picked it up when we were on holiday in a caravan in France roughly 6 weeks before the 1st spots appeared (which is apparently the time it takes for spots to appear). the treatment for scabies (a cream you apply on all parts of the body apart from the face) clears everything up within days. a week or so later a few spots reappear so I repeat the treatment (the label says you should do the treat twice any way just to make sure) and this time the spots have stayed away! until this week!!! this time he has them mostly on his chest, just a couple on his bottom but now my 16 month old daughter has them too!!! is it scabies and if so where did they get it from this time? we haven't been away at all since June. I am waiting for the GP to call me but I don't have a lot of confidence.
if anyone has managed to get to the bottom of this, I would be grateful if you could let me know.
thanks

My son gets these aswell he is 3 he has been getting them for nearly a year now.. I have taken him to docs and they just say it's part of his eczema and prescribe me epiderm cream and give me a hydrocortisone cream for the bad bits he only gets them on thighs and on his bum, they have never been as bad as the pics above and only gets a few at a time. I attached a pic of the ones that come up this morning

Hello SD

Your little boys bottom looks so angry and sore. I know this is an older photo, which you have attached so i do hope that he doesn't get as bad this time

If you look into the causes of catching Scabies, it would be possible for you to identify possible places of contamination as its not that easy to catch them

Even getting them off bedding is not that easy...

Scabies - Causes - NHS Choices

Can you think of anything over the past 3 weeks that has occurred which could link to possible scabies?

I wonder now you are at a point where the rash is reemerging whether it would be worth seeking GP support and asking for some kind of skin scrape to confirm if it is scabies, as this does seem unlikely doesn't it?

Perhaps a firm request to see the Dermatologist again as the rash is visible would be well worth the effort to try and get the best advice from the experts

If you do learn what this is could you come back and let us know

Best wishes

My little girl has had these spots/bites for almost a year now ..The first instance we brought her to the doctor and we were told it was chicken pox. Well after 2 weeks they did not go away . To make a long story short because we are demented with this as is our poor two year old Been to the doctors numerous times with different explanations ( They have no clue ) She has been to the dermatologist he said it was definitely bites . We do have pets but they are on flee drops once a month and carpets are done monthly as well ..However we did all this again , anything to know what was biting her . No other family member is bitten only her :(...We are heartbroken with this , I have attached some pictures these are recent bites  (only a couple days old) Some are scared from her itching and then the one on her leg ...bless her is just awful . Please please help ..Tried EVERYTHING creams, antibiotics, anti itch god you name it !!! Please help

Hi Danyial:hiya:

Your poor little girl, they look so sore

I wonder if I can make two suggestions, the first one being that perhaps you need some strong treatment for the possibility of fleas. It may be worth having a chat with your vet to get something on prescription if you find evidence of fleas on your pets as very often they can prescribe stronger medication.

Maybe this could help you?How to check your pet for fleas

The second suggestion is to take your little girl back to your GP as some of those spots could possibly be infected and need checking, it would also give you an opportunity to discuss the way forward.

I hope you get some resolve soon

I hope everyone's little one's are doing better, my 2 year old little girl is suffering with outbreaks at the moment, the latest one was just after we have returned from holidays but in the past the GP has always said eczema (which I have always doubted), then I thought it was heat related - she always seems to get her spots on her belly & under her arms or at her wrist (strangely), anyway this last lot started on Sunday & we came home last Friday, went to get her from nursery yesterday & the spots were mentioned to me again but when I was talking about it with her care worker it suddenly occurred to me that when we were away last week she only had showers with a mild shower cream, when we got home we went back to baths & using the baby bathtime stuff, last night I didn't use it I used what we used on holiday & then moisturised her skin with the eczema cream the dr gave to us & this morning the spots are half the size they were yesterday - could it be something in the bath stuff maybe?  Anyone else thought of this?

My partner and I tore our bedroom and house apart looking in the mattress ,under the bed , in any little spaces for anything EVERYWHERE !!! (bedbugs,spiders,fleas....anything ! We found nothing I feel so sorry for her ...breaks my heart Anyone had any joy with these bites ? any answers ?? Please

I think it's Urticaria. The way you describe your rash i assume it's Urticaria. It's an allergic reaction to whatever. Well, it can be of anything, food, cold, fever, emotion, stress, medicine, material,...

I have that allergy. And the best way to find out if it's urticaria or not, is, you should go with your finger over these rashes and if the place where your finger was, is white for a few second then it is possible that it's urticaria.

If you think it might be that, read this Urticaria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And do a blood test and take the results to a dermatologist. He or she will help you.
And if it's really Urticaria then all i can say is don't worry. You'll never know where these rashes come from. I have it already for 8 years probably and i still don't know.
I can eat a lot of strawberries or tomatoes or chocolate and i don't get a reaction, but a little stress, cold weather and a piece of chocolate and my body is full of it.
It usually goes away in 24 hours. But it's best that you go to see a doctor because if the rash gets near your neck and tr oath or mouth, it can be dangerous.

Good luck.

Ps- don't take any random medicine because it can be that you have an allergy from that.
Pps- to make it less take a not warm shower, almost cold. And ice cube for a few second of the rash can do good too. But nothing warm. Warm is bad.

Hi, I used to get rashes on my wrists like this all the time it turned out it was an allergic reaction. I went to see a dermitologist and he advised my allergy was nickle and a bacteria in cats saliva (your Daughters may be different) and regardless of where the nickle or saliva came into contact with my body the allergy would manifest on my wrist. I would then scratch it, it would get infected and look like your daughters do! btw I only came in to contact with cats saliva by stroking my cat as they obviously lick themselves to clean themselves! We've always had cats and we'd  already had our cat for 4-5 years before I developed my allergy to him. I'd also like to point out for whatever reason I rarely get bitten but my husband gets bitten by every bug going even when we're right next to each other. We were told it's something in your sweat that attracts them. Hope that helps!
