A pale, tufted, hairy perennial; leaves rolled in the bud; collar continuous, hairy ; auricles none; ligule short, mem- branous, coarsely toothed at apex, hairy on the back; sheaths compressed, pink nerved, densely hairy; blades flat, soft, hairy, one-half inch wide, sharp pointed..
