Cloud gaming is a way of playing games immediately on your laptop, without needing to install them. How is this possible? You stream games from 'the cloud', in the same way as you would stream videos on YouTube or other services. All you need is a reliable Internet connection and you can play even the most graphic-intensive games without needing fancy hardware (e.g. a dedicated graphics card).

What kind of Internet connection do I need for cloud gaming?

We recommend a minimum network bandwidth of at least 15 Mbps for 720p 60 Hz streaming, 30 Mbps for 1080p 60 FPS, and 35 Mbps for up to 1600p. Note: An Ethernet connection is required for the best results when streaming at 1600p at 120 FPS.

How do I know which games will run on cloud-gaming Chromebooks?

Cloud-gaming Chromebooks support three main cloud-gaming platforms – NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Amazon Luna. Any cloud game that works on these platforms will work on cloud-gaming Chromebooks, too. This includes games such as Fortnite, The Witcher 3, Halo Infinite and more.
